The firm is run by Adrian and Senofer Mendoza, entrepreneurs and prior operators who are veterans of the local startup ecosystem. The firm invests in Fintech, AI, and Cybersecurity, with diversity playing an important role in their investment decisions—90% of their portfolio consists of startups led by immigrants, people of color, and women. Since its founding seven years ago, Mendoza Ventures has raised two funds and had two successful exits. The firm is currently raising its third fund, a $100M fintech fund anchored by Bank of America, focused on early-growth funding rounds (Seed & Series A). The Mendoza Ventures Pre-Seed Fund I is a top quartile seed fund.

They believe that the funding discrepancy isn’t a pipeline problem – it’s a commitment problem. As a result of this gap in commitments, in 2023 they founded Mendoza Impact to expand their reach and network to earlier state founders, funders, and fellows.
