Worked as an Analyst / Associate at Cogent Partners, looking at how institutional investors could restructure, sell or buy portfolios of private equity and other alternative investments in the aftermath of the Financial Crash. The huge fall in public markets meant that many Endowments, Asset Managers and Family Offices had to offload private alternative investments and we were one of the first teams to bring liquidity into this asset class. Also got to see how a smaller financial services start-up could take advantage of a gap in the market and worked with great people between London and the USA. Cogent Partners was eventually sold to Greenhill - a leading investment bank to create Greenhill Cogent.

Worked as an analyst within the mid-market private equity investment team. My job was to analyse investment opportunities, run the numbers and prepare investment committee memos. Highlights included: investing into a family owned Italian mineral water company (Spumador); investing into a greenfield waste management development project based in Newcastle, UK (Graphite Resources); investing into one of the largest private hospital groups in South Africa / Switzerland (MediClinic International), and investing into one of the UK's largest exhibition and conference companies hosting business trade shows around the world (Clarion Events).
