Since the program's first pilot and launch in February 2018, I've had the honor of working in teams with some of the sharpest investors in Europe, meeting some incredible founders, assessing hundreds of technology companies, and investing in high-potential European deep-tech startups. The European Commission SME Instrument is part of the European Innovation Council (EIC), which supports top-class innovators, entrepreneurs, small companies, and scientists with funding opportunities and acceleration services. The EIC Fund is the European Innovation Council (EIC) venture investment arm, supporting start-ups through patient capital.

SINTEF is one of Europe’s largest independent research organizations. SINTEF TTO commercializes R&D results and manages SINTEF's venture capital funds and portfolio investments. During the last ten years, about 80 new technologies have been commercialized through spin-offs or licensing. SINTEF Venture VI (2023) is an early-phase fund managed by SINTEF TTO, investing in spin-off companies with technology from SINTEF. 30 MEUR committed, targeting 50 MEUR. SINTEF Venture V (2018) is an early-stage fund with committed capital of MEUR 50 from the European Investment Fund, SINTEF, KLP, Gjensidigestiftelsen, Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, SpareBank1 SMN Invest, and other private Norwegian investors. SINTEF Venture IV was established in 2014 along with the European Investment Fund (EIF) and SpareBank1 SMN, with an investment capital of MEUR 20.
