• Investigated the role and key components of anaerobic respiration in biofilm formation; • Purified and characterized a novel dual functional enzyme in vitro with both di guanylate cyclase and phosphodiesterase activities; • Established an original continuous kinetic assay for phosphodiesterase activity; • Discovered a new regulatory mechanism which protein-protein interaction triggers functionality switch of the di guanylate cyclase in nitric oxide signaling pathway; • Analyzed quantitatively c-di-GMP and biofilm formation under different environmental stresses; • Performed various molecular biology techniques including cloning, mutagenesis, qPCR, RT-PCR, DNA & RNA extraction and gene deletion; • Supervised two undergraduate and one high school students for their academic researches
