With broad perspectives on today's accounting technology and solution marketplace, I believe Blockchain technology will do for global commerce, what Postscript did for the publishing industry. The next frontier in accounting technology will be filled with increased automation of transactional data, global commerce solutions based on digital currency and blockchain technology, and renewed focus on security and identity management. My biggest concern today is #BigBadData. It's one thing to leverage our abilities to aggregate massive amounts of data, but for the most part, the little data we are aggregating is BAD data. So if we don't get a handle on the creation, distribution, and aggregation of bad data, all of the promise of machine learning and further automation will fail to be fully realized. I am currently pondering which of several opportunities will be the next "big thing." In the meantime, I'm building a woodshop in my back yard and learning new skills, including golf, woodworking, and healthy living habits.

    1994

Sleeter Group (@SleeterGroup) is dedicated to helping accountants and small businesses work together by using the most innovative and tested tools/systems to generate greater efficiencies and higher profits. The company maintains an independent view, separate from any particular company or product, evaluating solutions based solely on how they meet the demands of small business owners. Sleeter Group develops and publishes "best practices" for proper implementation of small- to medium-sized business accounting software systems, and we act as the most trusted advisors for the accounting consulting community. Sleeter Group Consultants Network (SGCN) is a community of accounting experts who provide consulting services to small-to medium-sized business owners in the accounting software and business process design areas. SGCN members provide the critical glue — consulting and implementation services — that connects technology solutions to the needs of small- to medium-sized business clients. In addition to the Consultants Network, resources from The Sleeter Group include reference books, webinars, Accountex US (an annual Accounting Solutions Conference and Tradeshow), a QuickBooks consultant certification program, QuickBooks teaching systems, QuickBooks assessment exams, a restaurant accounting certification program, and an accounting solutions Blog. Sleeter Group was established in 1994 and was acquired by Diversified Communications (www.divcom.com) in February 2015 and was subsequently rebranded as the Accountex Network (www.accountexusa.com). Doug Sleeter remains as a consultant to the company.
