Historically, Cambia’s core business has been health insurance – its health plans are the market leaders in the Pacific Northwest. However, the U.S. health insurance industry is in the midst of massive disruptive change as a result of demographic mega-trends, growing economic pressure and federal and state level reform. Through its Direct Health Solutions division, Cambia pursues an investment strategy which is rooted in our mission to create a more economically sustainable and person-focused health care system. The companies we build and invest in support products and services that address the needs of our traditional stakeholders (consumers, employers and physicians) and provide unique and specialized services for consumers with or without insurance. In his role as a Principal on the direct investment team, Dusty identifies, invests in, and supports the growth of healthcare IT and services companies, with a focus on efforts enabling providers and consumers to participate in the evolving retail-centric and shared risk healthcare environment. Dusty serves as a director on the board of lifeIMAGE, which facilitates medical image exchange with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and treatment support. He is also a board observer for PokitDok, MDsave, and Upfront Healthcare, all Cambia portfolio companies.
