    Architect paired with a Director for the Alexa Operational Excellence team to make her faster, more reliable, more accurate, and more efficient, and improve overall customer experience. A combination of DevOps and MLOps with a focus on ML infrastructure. Currently solving the problem, "How do you measure the accuracy of a stochastic AI system?". Part of the primary contact team between AWS and Alexa. Designed and shepherded observability tools for a real-time, reactive system, reducing Alexa latency by 12% annually. Filed two speech-processing related patents and one observability patent.

  • Founding Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

    Design systems to scale and deliver a great experience, and make sure that when someone wants to play a movie on Netflix, they can. Founding member of Netflix's first SRE team. Primary technical contact between AWS and Netflix. Created the role of Chaos Engineer. Work throughout the company evangelizing best practices for reliability and resilient architecture. Be the call leader for major outages driving a quick resolution and alleviating customer impact as quickly as possible. Write tools (generally in Python) to improve reliability and information flow throughout the company. Help with hiring and recruiting. During my tenure the team grew to 11 members and reliability increased by an order of magnitude.

    Moved reddit from the datacenter to the cloud. We were the first major website hosted fully on AWS. I was the primary technical contact between AWS and reddit. Managed the entire engineering team after the departure of the founders and other founding engineers, and grew the engineering team 3x in that time. Responsible for all technology including system architecture, hiring, managing all engineers, capacity planning, budgeting, operations, vendor relations, and keeping costs down by maximizing automation while minimizing infrastructure. Involved in the design and testing of all major site features, marketing, determining new product directions and ideas, writing open source code, promotion, management of a 18M+ user community, and all other aspects of running reddit.com, an Alexa global top 100 website with one of the largest Pylons installations on the internet. Oversaw a 30X traffic growth. Required to be an expert on how the system works end-to-end and learn and integrate new technologies quickly. Represent reddit at major conferences as an expert in virtualized environments (aka Cloud Computing) and rapid website scaling.

Primary focus was Solaris/Unix administration and network configuration. Also administering IBM Bladecenters, Netscalers, F5's, XServ Raids and myriad other specialty hardware.

    Developing fraud detection and prevention software; investigating computer crime; developing investigation tools; and serving as a security consultant for the entire organization as well as customers. Developing, deploying and maintaining eBay Inc.'s IDS's and log aggregation in order to protect eBay customer data. Granted multiple security related patents for this work.
