ATV: http://www.abb.com/ventures As ABB Technology Ventures CTO I am the main technology advisor and driver of equity and fund investments made by ABB Technology Ventures (ATV) and responsible for evaluating and supporting all investments from a technology perspective. I am key advisor on technology trends, emerging technology opportunities (incl. technology threats) to the Businesses, Corporate Research Center (CRC) and Technology Core Team (TCT) as member of the TCT. ABB Technology Ventures reports to ABBs’ CEO, CFO, CTO and other EC members. In this position I am responsible to scout for interesting Technology developments in proximity to ABBs Business, to prepare strategic decision base for future growth opportunities via early initiated activities in the identified sectors. Further I am responsible to identify attractive investment targets (start-ups) and to educate ABBs Technology Managers on spearheading Technologies cross whole ABB spectrum. The role is close to an Innovation Officer. The yearly budget for investments is in range of $100M. In this position I have high priority access to ABBs global engineering and Research pool of 7000 scientists. Success is measured mainly in the strategic dimension, in the impact our team is able to make on ABBs future long term growth opportunities via emerging disruptive Technologies.

    ABB Director Research Center in China and CTO China Group Vice President In this position I was responsible for the Power Systems and Power Products Research and Development in the field of Energy efficiency, transfer capacity enhancement, grid security, Distributed Generation, rural electrification, bulk power transmission (HVDC), Insulation coordination under harsh environment, material development for HV applications, Fault current limiter development; as well as Operations Development (efficiency and quality improvement in production process) and for Robotic development in Shanghai (industry robots). Main focus in this responsibility was to develop new solutions and concepts, Technologies in the field of future Power Transmission and Distribution, Technology Transfer process optimization, Knowledge transfer (explicit/tacit), visibility of ABB R&D in China, the training of engineers, development of engineers towards innovators, coordination of ABBs R&D activities in China, University Projects, dialogue with local Academia and customers and IP protection.
