Founded in 2009, Happy Money has a diverse employee base of over 350 people across the United States. Joined Happy Money (formerly known as Payoff) in 2014, grew from zero revenue to $120mm, from 40 employees to 400, and valuation increased 100x from Series A (Investor in Series A in 2013). Raised over $170mm in equity, over $25mm in venture debt. Led reinvention of business model to partner with a national network of credit unions to create a private capital markets for the digital lending platform. Secured over $2b in loan funding.     Responsible for real estate, private equity, and corporate development. Directly reported to Colbert Matsumoto, CEO of Island Holdings, Inc. Tradewind Capital Group is a Honolulu-based investment firm with a permanent source of local capital, targeting long-term risk-adjusted returns through opportunistic investments in real estate, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and public equities. Real Estate: development finance, value-add repositioning, multifamily, industrial, residential, resort, hospitality. Private Equity: early stage, growth equity, and buyout. The objective is to generate a generous return while also greatly benefiting the community of people living in Hawaii through stimulating economic growth, stabilizing strategic industries, and applying our imagination to create opportunities for young professionals in Hawaii.

Focused on inflation-hedging strategies, enhanced equity, liability-driven investing, and exchange traded funds. Developed investment strategies and products to generate good returns in all inflation environments. Wrote marketing literature for PIMCO’s exchange traded funds (raised $1.5B in assets). Published a white paper on the natural rate of unemployment and its impact on inflation.
