Work Experience

2011 - 2021

  • Chief Revenue Officer

    2012 - 2021

I was fortunate to join Marqeta’s founding team in early 2011 with a mandate to lead go-to-market strategy and growth of the business. Over the next several years, I led our commercial charge, growing the business from its first dollar of revenue in November of 2011 until stepping back in early 2021. Over the years, in addition to being accountable for maintaining product market fit and scaling revenue, I had the privilege of leading strategy, marketing, finance and corporate development, taking on a general management and multi-disciplined executive role well beyond the CRO title. I also served on our Board of Directors for six years. Throughout this time, I was fortunate to help lead Marqeta’s fundraising efforts, from our pre-Series B convertible note through every subsequent private round of both equity and debt financing. What I loved the most, however, was building and leading the most special and most winning Revenue team in the payments industry. Thank you Jason.

  • Member Board Of Directors

    2014 - 2020

  • Vice President Of Business Development

    2011 - 2012

  • Guest Lecturer

    2009 - 2019

Regular Guest Lecturer at CBS' Personal Leadership Institute, in partnership with professor Hitendra Wadhwa. My work here centers on the distinction of mindset and its power to shape our actions and results, both personal and professional. Thank you Hitendra for your partnership and friendship.

2008 - 2011

  • Chief Executive Officer (Exit by acquisition 2010)

    2008 - 2011

Brought in by an investor group to lead a turnaround, I was able to reframe the business, find a unique market for our product and rebuild the pipeline of sales. As the business began to grow, one of our global distributors provided an acquisition offer that we ultimately accepted. The acquirer increased the application set for the product, expanded the market, and continues to grow the business today. I've always enjoyed "carrying the weight" of a company on my shoulders. As a first-time CEO, at TerraFusion my title was matched to that feeling, which brought a wealth of learning and growth opportunities. Thank you Mark, Mitch and Elisha.

2001 - 2008

  • Partner

    2001 - 2008

I joined this extraordinary group of strategy and leadership consultants out of business school, and served the mission for seven years, ultimately in the role of Partner. From a handful of early team members, I founded the New York and London offices, and served on the management team of the firm for several years as we grew the business to over 50 professionals. I served C-suite clients at AXA, Virgin, Comcast, Barclays Global Investors, Lehman Brothers, McKesson, The Gap and dozens more, bringing together the disciplines of strategy, leadership and culture to help create brilliant teams, mobilize organizational change and deliver better results. During my time building the business, I got to play every role at the firm, bringing in new business, framing and designing engagements, developing our product, facilitating hundreds of client offsites and strategy sessions, and building out the teams that became the firm’s strongest asset. I'm forever grateful for all that I learned at Trium, most notably that every business problem ultimately has a human solution. Thank you Tom and Andrew.

  • Business Development Manager

    1998 - 1999

I pitched an idea to a Calvert board member, Wayne Selby and CEO Barbara Krumsiek: why not take all the great research Calvert was producing on the social and environmental records of companies (and using for its own portfolio managers) and spin it out as a standalone product? The team liked the idea and I got to spend a year building out the product, go-to-market and growth strategy. This was the early days of ESG, and it's great to have been one small part of the effort to get us here. Thank you Wayne and Barbara.

OneBody (Consensus Health)

1997 - 1998

  • Manager, Wellness Services

    1997 - 1998

This was my first significant role out of undergrad. I was the third employee on the ground after the founder, Alan Kittner, and helped build the early stages of our practitioner network product, which eventually became Blue Shield’s “Lifepath” offering. Here's where I got to do my first bout of market research, strategic planning, product development, business development and operations. Coolest experience of the job: in building out our provider network of large wellness spas, I got to do a number of site visits to ensure quality control. Thank you Alan.

  • Summer Intern

    1992 - 1994

I spent two summers working closely with founder Will Rosenzweig and his team, getting to see and experience the passion, frenzy and joy of startup. It was Will who taught me about the importance of quality in every detail (the tea ceremony), the power of singular focus, and my favorite line about building businesses: "You know you're on to something not when you have a great idea, but when the idea has you." Thank you Will.

Council of Economic Advisors, The White House

1993 - 1993

  • Assistant to the Chief of Staff

    1993 - 1993

White House Intern during President Bill Clinton's first year in office, working directly for Chairperson Dr. Laura Tyson and her Chief of Staff, Tom O’Donnell. Thank you Tom.
