Project manager, line manager, scientific lead and applications expert in a matrix organisation, currently responsible for six people across two teams plus a project team responsible for delivering new technology platform for pigment dispersions. Invention and commercialisation of novel polymeric dispersants and pigment dispersions for high speed inkjet printing.

  • Senior Chemist

    2003 - 2006

Permanent management position within the ink-jet printing materials research group. Primarily involved in the design, synthesis and development of dyes for aqueous ink-jet applications. Involved in strategic project teams to target specific longer term problems. The role exploited my experience of materials chemistry and liquid crystalline systems and the ability to liaise closely with physical science, modelling, analytical and process technology groups. Along with the prudent use of computer modelling (TD-DFT, SCF-CI etc for colour prediction), most projects involved a significant amount of structure based data-mining to follow progress towards customer targets and interpret the huge volume of results. Line management and reporting responsibilities with regular performance reviews. Along with regular group meetings and presentations scientific work was disseminated in the form of internal reports and patents. Also: External collaborations, safe working and good SHE and COSHH practices
