  • Venture Partner & Head of China

    2018 - 2021

Traveling to China over 30 times since 2014, spending an average of 90 days a year there, I have developed a keen interest in facilitating the operational and commercial success of the most promising early stage companies in one of the world's largest, fastest growing, yet difficult to enter markets. Currently, I am heading up the development of the East family of funds for 7bc in China which endeavors to set up a network of RMB JV funds in cities throughout China. We are in the MOU stage with GPs in Hefei, Haikou, Shenzhen, Beijing, and Nanjing. 7bc East achieves tech transfer, job creation and the generation of tax revenue in China. Its true innovation is solving the problem of marrying restricted capital with the world's most promising growth companies.

  • Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Development

    2012 - 2013

Created new lines of business and product offerings by monetizing relationships with underserved emerging growth life science and medicine companies (both private and public) and a broad range of institutional investors.

  • Proprietary Trader

    2003 - 2008

Self-developed and financed trading strategy that arbitrages the dissemination and impact of information on equity and equity derivative pricing. Investment objectives focus primarily on equities that have quick momentum potential and appetite by market participants who are slow to respond to information. Managed a team responsible for reviewing functional specifications and delivering technical specifications to configure a dynamic proprietary software utilizing PERL to generate alerts resulting in profitable trading activity. The strategy yielded a return of 447% over six years. My inspiration was an academic study I published at Emory University which explained remarkable price disparity in homogeneous goods being sold online thereby giving me the idea to apply this same market inefficiency to securities trading.

  • Senior Financial Analyst, Debt Placement

    2005 - 2006

Advised private equity firms, hedge funds, asset managers and other institutional clients in the arrangement of debt placement for commercial real estate transactions. The position gave me tremendous sell-side exposure to institutional real estate debt capital markets and the opportunity to work with different types of borrowers and lenders across nearly all real estate asset classes. Transaction experience aggregates to over $500 million.

  • Senior Financial Analyst

    2002 - 2005

Prepared, supervised, and presented comprehensive financial analysis of prospective acquisitions including pension portfolios, institutional portfolios, one-off assets, and public and private REITs. Responsibilities also included assisting in the origination of floating rate debt to finance recently acquired properties and fixed rate debt to refinance existing assets working closely with both asset managers and lenders. Participated in over $20 billion in closed acquisition and debt transactions. Promoted from Financial Analyst, Acquisitions in February 2004.

2000 - 2001

  • Research Associate

    2000 - 2001
