Led creation of new organization to incubate business initiatives. Served as Chief Technologist and Business Strategist for Motorola LAC President. Managed staff of 54 (and indirectly 350) across Latin America. During tenure annual sales grew to $3.6B. • Managed Motorola Ventures Latin America, an in-house VC that invests in Latin American start-ups. • Launched the first Latin American Wireless Internet Technology Center (Chile). Recruited initial team of 12 and planned profitable growth to 50 employees in 18 months. • Developed partnership with the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa Maria and Chile’s High Tech Investment Program to base Motorola’s first on campus R&D center. Obtained approval of $12MM investment including government incentives in excess of 55%. • Developed new model for Business Driven R&D focused to obtain rapid engineering, deployment, and customer feedback. Launched 7 products in first 9 months. • Launched Software Center in Argentina (110 software engineers), anticipating currency devaluation and government incentives. Achieved the most efficient price performance software development in the Americas. Set up R&D Centers in Mexico and Brazil. • Led new corporate business initiative to explore Latin America business opportunities.
