I'm responsible for defining and directing the company's architecture guidelines and ensuring they're aligned with the company's strategy, vision, and roadmap. I directly supervise the team of solution architects and, with them, choose design patterns and standards for delivering scalable, stable, and secure solutions. I am also the development manager for the platform teams and help align the platform vision with the wider architecture of the organization. Some key projects: A good old monolith deconstruction, transition to OAuth2/OpenID Connect, support for multiple geographic regions, data strategy and data lake architecture.

Managing three teams spanning platform/shared services, user engagement tools, and communications. Some key technologies used: Java (Springboot and Micronaut services), RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, ElasticSearch, AWS and GCP (multi-cloud), some Golang and NodeJS.

End-to-end encrypted platform for professionals and small teams. We want to make privacy easy, simple, and productive beyond just messaging. I am the hiring manager for development and operations. I work on architecture and feature design, occasionally contribute to code all over the stack, handle some operations responsibilities, and talk about the technical challenges of making usable crypto to anyone who will listen. Some technologies used: NodeJs, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, AWS, React, React Native, Electron, NaCl (cryptography toolkit).

Led the process for writing a new labour and compensation policy for the organization. Assisted in fundraising campaigns and event coordination. Contributed to strategic planning and policy-writing across multiple fields.

Chaired and planned board meetings. Sat on the Executive Committee. Directly supervised the Executive Director and led the hiring process for a new Executive Director. Served as a contact for media, external organizations, government agencies, etc and as a point person for crisis management.

Full-stack development with a focus on Ruby on Rails and Node and a side of WordPress and Magento. In some cases I worked directly with clients’ in-house development teams. In others, I hired and supervised freelance graphic designers, developers, and system administrators. Select projects: - Data processing/routing services (Node), and control panel interface (Rails) for bandwidth management devices and routers for hotels and conference centers - Offline-first content rendering framework for Android-based digital signage devices (aurajs) & corresponding content distribution microservices (Node) and content-creation engine (Rails, Backbone.js) - Prototyping for a medical billing mobile app (Appcelerator Titanium, Backbone.js, Parse backend) - Social learning application with video chat components (webRTC, Node, Rails) - Microframework for standardization of routing structure, sitemapping, SEO optimization and analytics across marketing sites, built for use by designers and integrators (PHP, JavaScript)
