  • Research Scientist

    2010 - 2012

  • Graduate Student

    2006 - 2010

Kraus Lab: Designed experiments to investigate: (1) categorical perception (and context-dependent processing) of speech at a subcortical level, (2) the effects of emotion on the neural encoding of sound. Collected EEG and human behavioral data on above experiments and also to study the role of auditory processing deficits in children with learning disabilities. Developed Matlab software to analyze EEG data, primarily statistical analyses of energy levels in various frequency bands in human neural responses, as well as time-domain correlations. Data Analysis: hemispheric/laterality effects, pitch-tracking, Fourier transforms, phaselocking, stimulus-to-response correlations, root-mean-square amplitudes, statistics (ANOVAs, t-tests, correlations)

  • Teaching Assistant

    2007 - 2007

Prepared and gave lectures to students on lab techniques (gel electrophoresis, Western blots, cell staining, centrifuging)

  • Research Assistant

    2005 - 2006

Surgically inserted cannula into the dorsal hippocampus for drug delivery (survival surgery) to develop a mouse model of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Recorded and analyzed rodent behavioral data, produced anesthetics and other surgical solutions. Developed Matlab software to code human behavioral data for speech-in-noise experiments.

2003 - 2005

  • Residential Computer Consultant

    2004 - 2005

Educated and diagnosed problems for residents on a regular basis, including network maintenance, virus & spyware issues, support for additional consumer electronics (printers, cameras, phones). Implemented a wireless network before the University standardized all residential Wi-Fi. Gave quarterly seminars as part of residential education (“Bread: Applied Yeast Biology,” “Photoshop Tricks”).

  • Research Assistant

    2003 - 2005

Sapolsky Lab & Steinberg Lab: Presented poster at Society for Neuroscience conference on the extent of protection conferred by hypothermia in a rodent stroke model. Sliced, stained, and measured rodent brain tissues (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, gel electrophoresis, Western blot, H&E staining, cresyl violet staining, image analysis), statistical analyses (ANOVAs, t-tests) Surgically extracted fetal tissue from rats for use tissue culture experiments
