In the laboratory of Prof. Susumu Tonegawa, my research focused on the neuronal mechanisms of emotional behaviors and related psychiatric diseases. - Applied multidisciplinary techniques, including genetics, biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, optogenetics, in vivo calcium imaging, fiber-photometry, behavior assays and data analysis (Matlab, Python) - Co-led a project and dissected genetic-identified neural circuits from the basolateral amygdala (BLA) to central amygdala (CeA) that underly appetitive and aversive behaviors. This study was published in Neuron in 2017. - Led a project and discovered a new neuronal substrate of fear extinction memory in the BLA, providing potential therapeutic targets for the therapeutical treatment of emotional disorders, such as PTSD and general anxiety disorder. This study was published in Neuron in 2020. - Reviewed manuscripts for Journal of Neuroscience and Neuropsychopharmacology. - Participated in MGH Clinical Experience courses on neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders - Mentored 4 undergraduate students on two research projects and applications for medical school/graduate school. - Volunteered to teach a course on neuroscience and animal behaviors to high school students - Organized the Brain Lunch seminar series and recruited graduate students and postdocs as speakers at the academic year 2017-2018 - As a member of the Graduate student education committee at the MIT BCS Department, participating in organizing the graduate and undergraduate curriculum with department faculty members and administrators - Deliverables: 6 poster presentations; 1 poster award at a prestigious conference of 500+ attendees; 2 publications; 2 invited seminars
