Led the Series A venture financing round of Natera together with Sequoia Capital (Roelof Botha). Engineered a successful Series B round of Natura during the high of the Great Financial Recession in 2009. Natera™ is a global leader in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing, dedicated to oncology, women’s health, and organ health. Our aim is to make personalized genetic testing and diagnostics part of the standard of care to protect health and enable earlier and more targeted interventions that lead to longer, healthier lives. Where some set out to build a test, we set out to achieve a mission: change the management of disease worldwide by using DNA testing to proactively inform treatment. Through a cfDNA technology platform approach, we've pioneered noninvasive testing in unlimited applications—each with their own potential to revolutionize care for patients.

    Led the Series C round of venture capital financing together with Sequoia Capital (Warren Hogarth). Assurex Health is a medical company that develops neuropsychiatric genomic diagnostic tests. The company was acquired by Myriad Genetics (MYGN) for $410 million in 2016. Assurex Health is a medical company that develops neuropsychiatric medicine, helping clinicians determine the right medication for individual patients with medical conditions. Assurex Health’s proprietary technology is based on pharmacogenomics – the study of the genetic factors that influence an individual’s response to drug treatments – as well as evidence-based medicine and clinical pharmacology.

John and his co-founders raised $300 million from institutional investors such as Harvard, UC Regents, Vanderbilt, U Michigan, and Verizon. John led the Series A investment in Natera (NTRA) together with Sequoia Capital. The molecular diagnostic company successfully completed an IPO in July 2015. In August 2015 Roche acquired John's portfolio company GeneWeave in a $425 million transaction. In August 2016, Myraid Genetics purchased John's portfolio company Assurex in a $410 million deal. John currently serves on the boards of Natera (NTRA) and SmartZip.

Pivoted the strategy to focus on very large apartment owners with focus on debit and eCheck products leading to rapid growth and an early buyout offers. PropertyBridge was acquired by MoneyGram International, Inc. on 10/1/07.
