At Smartbox I lead a growing team responsible for the company's e-commerce platform, composed by 15 in-house people and an offshore team. Implementing Agile methodologies and coaching the team in their way to maturity and self-organization, using development best practices (TDD/BDD, code review, Continuous Integration, ...).

As the CTO, I have: - Established an Agile IT team that helps the company follow the Lean startup principles by being fast and highly flexible. - Introduced TDD and BDD in the development cycle, as a way to improve the quality of the platform and to increase development efficiency. − Led the architecture of the platform, both on the software and the hardware side. Transitioning from a monolithic application based in Magento to a service oriented architecture with different services and a common API. − Helped establishing the tools to provide a set of useful business metrics that drive business decisions. Besides Google Analytics we also use Kissmetrics. − Actively participated in taking daily business decisions. − Participated in the Board of Directors to give updates on technology and explain architectural decisions and planning to the directors and investors.

- Spearheaded the formation and management of a software engineering team, implementing a swift and flexible development process founded on agile methodologies and employing tools like Jira and Git. - Initiated release management and server monitoring protocols. - Orchestrated and guided the software and hardware-based development of the platform. Instituted a real-time stock control mechanism to regulate the inventory of the company's 4 warehouses worldwide. - Successfully integrated a new PSP that supports the majority of the store's local currencies. - Optimized the hardware infrastructure by migrating part of it to the cloud, thereby reducing costs and enhancing scalability. - Boosted platform performance, resulting in increased conversion rates and elevated productivity for the company.

Development of new software and maintenance of the existing solutions, using PHP and MYSQL. Integrated in a team of four developers, creation of a base system to create virtual communities and creation of a professional community based on it. My main responsibilities were define the application architecture and develop some of the functionalities, I also participated in some front-end aspects using css and JavaScript. Both applications were developed using Zend Framework 1.9, Doctrine 1.2, MySQL and jQuery. Maintenance an development of new functionalities for a web-based property management software, developed with PHP, MySQL and jQuery.
