StarVest is a New York-based venture capital firm with $400 million under management that is funding technology-enabled business services companies throughout the U.S. The firm’s value-added partnership maintains a laser focus on five key emerging technology and services sectors: Software as a Service (SaaS), Internet Marketing Services, eCommerce Services, Data Aggregation Services and Identity and Security Management. StarVest was an early investor in the software-as-a-service sector. The firm was the first and primary venture investor in NetSuite in 2000, when it had $100,000 in revenues. It became the leading SaaS company in enterprise resource planning (“ERP”), growing to $1 billion in revenue. As a founding partner of StarVest, Laura has been active and served on the boards of Veracode (sold to CA Technologies), MessageOne (sold to Dell Computer), Connected (sold to Iron Mountain), iCrossing (sold to Hearst) and Newgistics (sold to PE firm and subsequently Pitney-Bowes) among others. Laura currently serves on the boards of RetailNext (ecommerce infrastructure), Persado (AI marketing), Transactis (fintech payments) and Ceros (SaaS marketing). Other notable investments: Fieldglass (SaaS human capital management company sold to PE firm and subsequently SAP), insurance.com (1st online insurance marketplace), CrowdTwist (loyalty) and AppDirect (cloud brokerage services).
