  • Reporter

    1986 - 1996

I began work with AP as a reporter in Rio de Janeiro, where I lived for five years (before AP, I freelanced for a variety of publications in Rio). I wrote political, economic and human interest stories and traveled extensively in Brazil. Returning to New York with AP, I worked as an editor and writer on the Foreign Desk for three years, then in the New York Bureau as a reporter. My last position with AP was in financial news, where I covered the financial markets and then created and, for three years, wrote a column, "On the Job," on the topic of women and workplace issues.
