  • Global Head of Executive and Strategic Search

    2019

I lead a team that partners with our executives to identify and hire amazing leaders for Confluent. I have built this team from scratch over the last 5+ years, up until and following our successful IPO in 2021. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help create a category that transforms how every company sets their data in motion. We've been fortunate to attract an amazing executive team so far, all of whom I am proud to work with every day: https://www.confluent.io/about/. The executive and strategic search team covers every facet of Confluent's senior hiring across engineering, field operations, marketing, finance and G&A. I've also had the great pleasure to assist in building out our board as we scaled to become a public company. It's a thrill to be part of the growth at this phase of Confluent's history. More on Confluent: have you ever found a new favorite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That’s Confluent in action—giving our customers instant access to massive amounts of real-time data, enabling them to thrive in an ever-changing digital world. As one of the fastest-growing enterprise companies in history, and with Fortune 100 customers across all major industries, we have a tremendous opportunity in front of us. We also have experience on our side. Our leaders have taken companies of our size to major success before and include some of the original creators of Apache Kafka®. 2014 - 2019

  • Director, Talent Acquisition

    2014 - 2019

I was an integral part of the talent acquisition leadership team which saw Netflix through 5x growth in the 2014-2019 timeframe. Oversaw half of the product engineering hiring, including high impact organizations such as Content Engineering, Streaming Platforms, User Interface Engineering, Device Partner Ecosystem and the Content Delivery Network. - Grew high performing recruiting team 3x to scale to meet the demands of a complex global business through big shifts, including the move into original content production and extensive international expansion. Emphasized a collaborative approach to leverage strengths in recruiting teams across the organization. - Mentored recruiting team on best practices in building strong relationships with hiring leaders, partnering with them on role definition, skills criteria, talent landscape mapping, candidate assessment, candidate experience and offer negotiation. - Led team through many first hires for product engineering in international offices, including roles in Tokyo, Singapore, Amsterdam, Mumbai and Sao Paulo. - Owned senior level Director and VP requisitions across teams in product engineering, as well as searches in regional and partner marketing. - Partnered closely with product engineering leaders to define and prioritize talent acquisition strategy. This included defining best practices for engineering leadership to establish and grow their network and brand in the industry, and to develop diversity hiring initiatives, resulting in significant progress made in gender diversity in 2018-2019 timeframe.

2000 - 2014

  • Principal Owner and Director of Recruiting Operations

    2000 - 2014

Founded an executive search firm focused on identifying senior software talent for leading technology firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Led legal, finance, technology operations, creative, strategy and sales, successfully placing senior technical talent with companies such as Netflix, Pandora, Motorola, Symantec, and Tivo. Special focus on recruiting for venture backed start ups, including organizational development, candidate identification, recruiting and offer negotiation.

  • Senior Technical Staffing Manager

    1995 - 2000

Recruited straight out of Stanford. Became one of the key recruiting leaders driving the huge growth of this small, boutique-oriented technical staffing firm into one of the leading Software Engineering and IT Consulting firms in Northern California. From joining until we sold the company 5 years later, the company grew from a single Silicon Valley office with 12 internal employees and 50 field consultants to having 5 offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, with over 60 internal employees and 500 client-deployed consultants.
