The Open API Initiative (OAI) was created by a consortium of forward-looking industry experts who recognize the immense value of standardizing on how REST APIs are described. As an open governance structure under the Linux Foundation, the OAI is focused on creating, evolving and promoting a vendor neutral description format. Mashape API Marketplace was acquired by RapidAPI in 2017 [1]. Mashape raised Angel, Seed and Series A rounds from tier-1 investors while pioneering the concept of using APIs as a business and backbone of software infrastructure. In 2015 Mashape became the largest API Hub with over 300,000 developers and 20,000 APIs [2].
