Funding our plant-based future... Veg Capital provides early-stage capital to companies striving to replace the use of animals in the food system. We are a specialist private venture fund that primarily provides early-stage Angel, Seed, and Series A funding, with investments typically ranging from £100,000 to £250,000. For the right opportunity we will consider larger investments. We invest in companies that develop innovative plant-based and cultivated replacements to animal products, including meat, seafood, dairy and eggs. . We also invest in technology platforms, innovations and distribution channels which help to build a scaleable, affordable and tasty plant-based food system. We believe that conventional animal agriculture is an inefficient, cruel and unsustainable food production system which is ready for innovation and large-scale disruption. All profits made will be donated to effective UK and European charities that are raising awareness of farmed animal suffering and the environmental impact of animal agriculture, or are working to promote plant-based eating. Who knew the revolution would come with a side of fries? We did. 🍟 We set out to make great-tasting food that doesn’t cost a wing and a leg. We took fresh, wholesome plants, worked some magic, then deep-fried them to create the most amazing Vegan Fried Chick*n. 🍽️ What we s̶t̶a̶n̶d̶ sit for: We visited a chicken farm. What we saw shocked us. We knew that we had to do better than this, and VFC was born. Now the best chicken comes from plants. See for yourself: https://vfcfoods.com/mission/ Ours is an act of positive rebellion against a system that has brought us climate change, environmental destruction, factory farming and slaughterhouses. We applaud those who fight serious injustice with placards and demonstrations, with letters to MPs. We salute those who take to the streets with megaphones or lock themselves to railings. Our way to dismantle this destructive system is with great food. This is our sit-down protest. 🍗 We fried chick*n instead of the planet.

The FIT Show is the primary focus for the UK window, door and conservatory industry. I formed this company in 2011, along with my business partner Paul Godwin, and we held our first event at the Telford International Centre in 2013. Launch shows are notoriously hard to get off the ground, but the FIT Show was a huge success from the outset generating healthy profits. After two further events at the TIC, we moved the FIT Show to the NEC Birmingham in 2017 and grew the footprint. The company was then acquired by Angus Montgomery Ltd (a larger events company) and I remain involved in an advisory capacity as Chairman of the Board. The FIT Show remains an important part of the window industry calendar forging a bridge between the manufacturers and distributors of products, components and services and the companies and individuals that fabricate and install them. The next event will be held at the NEC from 10-12 May, 2022.

Conservatory Outlet is a leading manufacturer of PVCu windows, doors and conservatories supplying a network of dealers throughout the UK. I started this business with my brother as a manufacturing arm of West Yorkshire Windows. We created a dealership concept offering sophisticated marketing support and leads for established regional installers. Whilst other trade manufacturers were competing on product, price and service, we were able to do all that, whilst at the same time sprinkling a bit of magic dust which helped their businesses grow. I sold the business in February 2014 to two co-Directors (Michael Giscombe & Greg Kane) who have continued to grow the business successfully and profitably.

I set this business up with my brother when I was 21 years old, and spent 15 years learning how to run a business, before exiting in 2009 to focus on growing Conservatory Outlet Ltd. In 2018, I got back involved and provided investment to support the working capital needs within the company. In late 2019, I introduced further working capital and became the majority shareholder, with my brother stepping down to explore other business interests. I am now working with a new Managing Director and the Senior Management Team on a recovery plan as the company adapts to the new environment created by COVID19.
