An ambitious institution-building experience in creating a community of tech entrepreneurs around Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ), the country's oldest and leading technical university. Led a complex system-building process, including the physical infrastructure, forming sound financing mechanisms for sustainability, establishing diligent company selection procedures, putting in place solid contracts with all stakeholders, creating incubation mechanisms and developing interfaces with the university, the global tech community, the students, and the academics. The great challenge was to make it work seamlessly as a coherent whole and to build a narrative that would motivate all existing and potential stakeholders. Once the system was working, the natural next step was to link it to global networks and partners. It culminated in Türkiye's leading technology community with over 300 companies and 8000 tech employees.
