These teams work on product and program recommendations (Alexa, Books, Music, Apps, Fire Tablets, FireTV, Alexa Skills Store and more) and range from backend data science teams, front end software development for the web to Quality Assurance, DevOps and tools as well. They work at enhancing the user experience by using data at Amazon scale to help customers find what they want - when they want it AND faster than before. Our mission is to build automated, data-driven features to personalize discovery, shopping and "digital consumption" experiences at Amazon. We build to delight customers with easy and timely recommendations and experiences that take advantage of Amazon's expertise in Recommendations, Machine Learning and "Big Data". Led multiple high performance teams of talented engineers and managers as the Appstore grew from its initial launch in 2011, to serve customers on millions of Kindle Fire and Android devices in just under 200 countries by the end of 2013. 2011: - Led the Appstore Device Services team from Oct 2011 to Feb 2012. Responsible for all services behind Appstore across all devices - Launched Kindle Fire in Nov 2011 2012: - Launched various partnerships with mobile carriers - Launched TestDrive on Android Phones via Appstore, May 2012 - Launched a rewritten, redesigned and localized Appstore in Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Japan 2013 - Launched localized versions of Appstore in China, Canada, more EU countries and then the rest of the world in English - Inventor on a patent application related to App Recommendations - Re-built and redesigned Appstore from the ground up to focus on performance, agility, and innovative new features for customers.
