The Sahara Forest Project (SFP) is a for-profit foundation providing a holistic solution to some of our time’s greatest challenges, namely the production of key resources such as clean energy, freshwater and sustainable food. By combining already existing and proven environmental technologies, such as evaporation of seawater to create cooling and distilled fresh water (i.e. in a saltwater based greenhouse) and solar thermal technologies, SFP enables restorative growth, contributes to re-vegetation of desert areas as well as green jobs. In short, The Sahara Forest Project utilizes what we have enough of to produce what we need more of, using deserts, saltwater and CO2 to produce food, water and energy.
