Work Experience

2021 - 2022

  • Non-Exec Co-founder

    2021 - 2022

Multiomic Health is an AI + bio company using ultra-deep-omics data to identify high-dimensional clusters of patients in diabetic kidney disease. Multiomic is a candidate to be the first personalized treatment developer in metabolic disease (world's largest disease by death rate and market size) and is funded by multiple leading investors. I was the first investor and co-founded the company with biotech exec Robert Thong and deep tech VC Alasdair Thong. This came out of my lifelong passion for life extension – metabolic disease is intimately related to the leading mechanisms of aging, and given its multifactorial nature only AI will be able to make a significant impact here.

2010 - 2021

  • Founder, CEO, Board member

    2010 - 2021

ETG today is one of the world's largest B2B online travel companies with ~$2bn in annual turnover, 2000 employees, and significant positive EBITDA. We help >40,000 B2B customers in >40 countries easily book B2B hotel rates from >170 suppliers while dealing with local compliance and nuances. I founded the company and led it as CEO over its first 7 years; then recruited the current CEO and guided the company at board level. I remain a major shareholder. I led raising >$50m from top investors; hired >500 people (and fired >200); built an exceptional exec team + CEO who run the business; personally designed much of the core technology that drives our advantage in pricing and margin; and created the culture that drives our success. Under my leadership the company survived many near-death crises to become the #1 global player in our B2B hotel booking niche. We also own Ostrovok, the #1 B2C online travel company in Russia. We are hiring >100 positions in 34 different cities: https://www.emergingtravel.com/career/

2017 - 2019

  • Co-Founder & CEO

    2017 - 2019

AI-driven B2C mobile application. As founder/CEO I raised ~$5m from leading investors (YCombinator, Greylock, SV Angel, one of Peter Thiel's funds and others) + designed a team that built a highly-rated app with >20m downloads. Left after hiring successor CEO because the company was not a fit for my long-term interests + we failed to make the tech work prior to the start of the generative AI revolution

2007 - 2008

  • Founder & CEO

    2007 - 2008

I was founder/CEO of TokBox as a 22-year-old Stanford dropout; under my leadership the company raised a seed round from top angels and a Series A from Sequoia and launched the first simple web-based one-click video chat product in history. Acquired by Telefonica/Vonage.

2006 - 2006
