With over 32 years of professional experience Mr. Garland has held the role of Chairman, Director, CEO, President and Chief Financial Officer for operating companies of several large hedge funds. His diverse background includes: Operating Partner to Oaktree Capital Management, LLC, a $60+ billion family of funds focusing on distressed investments and special situations; Director of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., a global leader in floors, ceilings and cabinets with sales approaching $4 billion; Chairman & owner of Titan Industries, an engineering and metal fabrication company specializing in custom conveying and materials handling equipment; Chairman & owner of DB&S Steel, a precision steel processing facility; Vice Chairman of Boss Controls, an Internet of Things energy management and controls company; CEO of American Fiber Resources International, the global leader of high grade recycled market pulp (a Cerberus Capital Management and Oaktree Capital Management portfolio company); CEO of Mississippi River Pulp, the North American leader of food grade recycled pulp (a Wayzata Investment Partners portfolio company); Executive Chairman of ImageTree, Inc., a precision forestry assessment company focusing on eco-markets and global climate change support (a Battle Investment Group portfolio company); Business restructuring and turnaround consulting at Price Waterhouse, LLP; Adjunct Professor of Finance (Crisis Management) at the University of Pittsburgh Katz MBA program; Vice-President at an international medical equipment distributor, and a litigation and transactional law clerk. Mr. Garland holds a Law degree, an MBA and a B.S. in Business/Behavioral Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as the Certified Turnaround Professional designation by the ACTP.
