Research focus on the improvement of amorphous silicon material properties for use in solar cell devices; the use of intrinsic stress application through varying deposition parameters for the modification of hole mobility in the material. Member of multi-discipline research group under Prof. Tonio Buonassisi, comprising the joint MIT/Fraunhofer Institute Laboratory for Photovoltaic Research.

Developed theoretical framework for establishing a 100% solar module electric grid for the New England region. Emphasis on the technological advances needed from the smart grid, and economic decision making models necessary to reduce costs of solar photovoltaics to a competitive level.

Performed studies to verify the viability of materials for next generation, multiple bandgap solar cells. Designed experimental interface with LabView for the rapid characterization of solar cell properties.

Created control scheme to prevent engine runaway from turbobearing oil leaks in a 1400 HP 16 cylinder diesel engine used on the GE Evolution locomotive, including data capture and analysis on fleet units Elaborated analysis and test procedure to validate the use of B20 biodiesel on General Electric made locomotives.
