Steve is a Partner focused on Menlo's "Inflection Fund", targeting $20-$30m investments in companies in the $5-$15m ARR range (generally at the Series B/C stage). Recent examples of Menlo's investments at this stage include Chime, Carta, and Benchling.

Steve is a Principal at Menlo Ventures (joined in 2015) and focuses on investing in SaaS applications, marketplaces and robotics. As a Y Combinator alum, he also helps cover the YC ecosystem for Menlo. Steve helped lead Menlo’s investments in Breather, Clarifai, Heap, Scout RFP, Carta, Rover and MealPal. Steve is an active contributor to blogs for the firm on topics ranging from APIs, marketplaces, eCommerce investing, chat bots, and more.

Steve was part of the Insight Onsite team, focusing on investment diligence and providing hands-on resources and expertise to Internet and software companies. Steve helped lead deal evaluation in more than ten SaaS and marketplace investments, including Alteryx (NYSE: AYX), Instructure (NYSE: INST), nCino, Automattic, Turnitin, Wallapop, Invaluable, and Conga. Post-investment he worked with portfolio executives at companies like HealthcareSource (sold to Francisco Partners), Sparefoot, and DrillingInfo on strategies to accelerate revenue growth, improve operational efficiency, and increase long-term shareholder value.

Steve worked for Oliver Wyman in the Financial Services group where he worked closely with large financial institutions to develop growth and regulatory initiatives. He was ranked at the top of his consultant class and promoted to Senior Consultant in his first year. Project work included designing and implementing fraud prevention strategies for a major government financial institution, optimizing sales strategy for six large investment banks, and developing a proprietary Java and SQL model to value client mortgage portfolios.
