    Robin Hood is New York's largest poverty-fighting organization, focused on finding, funding and creating programs that generate meaningful results for families in New York's poorest neighborhoods. Primary responsibilities: • Managed portfolio of 17 grants in the homelessness/housing and workforce development space totaling $10M (approx. 10% of foundation's grants). • Restructured entire portfolio: defunded almost half of all existing grants and executed $6.5M in new initiatives with superior poverty-fighting outcomes. • Extended $12.7M in new PRIs (program-related investments) to create or preserve affordable housing. • Supported multiple tech-enabled startups by working closely with Blue Ridge Labs.

    IGNIA is a pioneer in the impact investing space in Latin America. IGNIA invests in businesses that address an unmet demand for the emerging middle class or that bring a better value proposition for a basic need. Primary responsibilities: • Designed and institutionalized pipeline screening process and assisted in efforts to evaluate 250+ investment opportunities. • Partnered with investment officers and entrepreneurs on targeted strategies to accelerate growth of eight selected portfolio companies including fundraising, recruiting, and institutionalizing corporate governance practices. • Managed all aspects of relationship with 35 Limited Partners in $100M fund, including JP Morgan, Omidyar Network, Soros Economic Development Fund, Rockefeller Foundation, IFC, and IADB among others. • Led IGNIA’s efforts to promote industry development through active participation in industry forums, media publications, partnerships, and strategic initiatives with leading organizations (such as the Global Impact Investing Network, Aspen Institute, World Economic Forum, Latin American Venture Capital Association, and US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce). • Defined and tracked impact metrics for all portfolio companies while positioning IGNIA as the first fund worldwide to be rated by GIIRS (Global Impact Investing Ratings System) and to adopt IRIS (Impact Reporting and Investment Standards). • Developed the communication and fundraising strategy for IGNIA’s newest target $200M fund (expected to close in 2015).

    Compartamos Banco is the largest microfinance bank in Latin America, serving more than 2.5 million clients. Primary Responsibilities: • Worked concurrently while studying at the Harvard Kennedy School in an analysis of remittance flows in the Mexico-US corridor. • Explored efficiency and productivity parameters to evaluate Compartamos’ microfinance operations versus those of its peers, evaluated quantitative data, conducted interviews, and performed extensive fieldwork in the creation of a report for Compartamos’ Co-CEOs.
